Students will learn to create interesting murrine, twisted cane and vitrograph stringers using the Cress GK1 kiln and a specially designed container. Following a demonstration and discussion about preparing and filling the container with glass to create unusual designs, students will pull murrine and cane from pre-prepared pots of glass. You will take home murrine to incorporate into future fused glass projects.
NOTE: Image is only a representative way to use murrine. Unfortunately there is not enough time in this 1/2 day class to create a plate.
Students need to bring: Glass cutting tools including a Mosaic Nipper and Safety Glasses.
Janine teaches this class in Las Vegas at Glass Craft and Bead Expo where it sells out quickly. She also teaches regularly at her home studio in Arroyo Grande, CA and at glass shops all over the USA, Canada and beyond.
More about Janine from Janine: What began as an artistic escape from a rigorous science-based Master’s Program many years ago has evolved into full time fun as I enjoy sharing my love of glass with students. My foundation of over 30 years’ experience working with stained, lampworked and fused glass and my endless experimentation with new techniques allows me to share the basics as well as more advanced topics with students of all levels. I own a glass teaching studio in Arroyo Grande, California where I regularly present classes and workshops when I am not traveling to hosting studios.
Skill level: Beginner/Intermediate
